Let DIY Into The Classroom Teaching

The original meaning of "DIY" is "DO IT YOURSELF", which means that you do not rely on or employ professional craftsmen, and use appropriate tools and materials to repair your home. The concept of DIY initially involved only the home, and gradually extended to all things that can be done by yourself.
Modern scientific research shows that often carry out DIY activities, not only to practice the hands and brain, for the development of human intelligence, creativity has a positive significance. The new curriculum standards point out: "We should make full use of educational resources in real life, optimize the learning environment, strive to build an education system that links inside and outside the class and integrates subjects, carry out a variety of comprehensive practical activities, broaden the content, form and channel of learning, and improve learning ability." Based on the new curriculum standards, our school has gradually carried out comprehensive practical activities in classroom teaching, introduced DIY into the classroom, and deeply integrated it with classroom teaching, so that students can complete the learning and grasp of the course content in personal experience, and received good teaching results.
For example, let the students design and make the characteristic marks of their hometown, which can cultivate the emotion of loving their hometown; Let students use waste materials to make a variety of art decorations, can beautify life, enhance students' environmental awareness: Let students design and make clay sculptures of heroic characters, can cultivate and improve students' ability to observe the dynamics of characters, three-dimensional modeling ability, etc.
DIY requires students to make it themselves, be familiar with the characteristics of various materials, master the production process, and enhance the ability to use materials and tools, so that students can get an intuitive aesthetic pleasure. Through creative thinking activities, students organically combine artistic perception with craft production means and production materials, learn knowledge in play, and experience the fun and joy of turning ordinary materials into a work of art.
